To Bathe In Embers is the debut recording from Chicago-based ensemble Set Self On Fire, composed of Ben LaMar Gay, Daniel Van Duerm, Reid Karris & Brendan McAlinden. Harboring budding creative forces from AACM, Chicago Scratch Orchestra & Articular Facet, Set Self on Fire is rooted in persona and the filament that threads between the composed and the improvised. SSOF brings together four of the newest noise-makers in Chicago to realize their version of a modern protest music that could only come from the hot-blooded minds of these players.

"The world is a mess. and what's worse is that to a certain extent society would have us be complacent of this fact. However, it is up to us that are aware to stand up and say something in protest against the madness. In that spirit Set Self on Fire is the musical equivalent of self-immolation."
